HEIDELBERGER FRÜHLING: BRAHMS.LAB V FREEDOM WE MEAN

Florian Weber, one of the most exciting pianists and music inventors on the current jazz scene, brings all of this with him in abundance: He grew up in Detmold, where the young Brahms once worked at the princely court. His father was a professor of song composition. And the love of Brahms' vocal and instrumental music has always accompanied Florian Weber anyway. Together with the members of the Festivalcampus-Ensemble and the women's choir 4x4, he now tackles early works such as the Piano Variations op. 9 or the Four Songs op. 17.

HEIDELBERGER FRÜHLING: BRAHMS.LAB IV JAMSESSION

When a group of versatile young musicians is invited to Brahms.LAB to search for creative starting points and contemporary ways of expressing music, and when they come together over several days at Dezernat 16 with the exceptional artist and jazz pianist Florian Weber, then ideas become concepts and programmes. Some things need an experimental space and a response from the audience, but also still free space to expand the artistic horizon. The jam session in the Spielraum Dezernat is the right place for this. Maybe one or the other festival artist will join us.

HEIDELBERGER FRÜHLING: BRAHMS.LAB III HUMANATURE

Human and nature. In their concert project, three young musicians from the Festivalcampus-Ensemble explore this tense relationship. A place of longing and threat at the same time, vulnerable systems, our body as a form from nature. Songs by Johannes Brahms form the starting point. Using their own sounds, the artists shed new light on some of his most beautiful nature settings. Supplemented by contemporary works (by John Cage and Rebecca Saunders, among others), the program describes a life cycle. Because what unites human life and nature is their becoming and passing away.
